  1. Reconstruction is refering to when the civil war ended and the country had to rebuild trust between the north and the south and the destruction the war caused.
In terms of physical damage many cities, houses, and railroad tracks had been all or partially destroyed. So President Lincoln set about rebuilding the south. He established the Proclamation and reconstruction where he pardoned all south states and citizens who would swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and accept U.S. laws on slavery. To be continued......

  2. Now I can't remember exactly where I left of last time. But I think I was almost finished.
In conclusion through various efforts to pacify the south, all the states that had previously seceded were readmitted into the union. Also large sums of many any a lare amount of time was used to reconstruct the south.

  3. Before the war’s end Lincoln had begun to plan for Reconstruction. This was rebuilding the rebelling states and reuniting the nation. He issued this plan and also the Proclamation of Amnesty which offered a full pardon to almost all southerners who would swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and accept federal laws on slavery. Lincoln was never able to direct the Reconstruction. Be fore he was able to he was shot on April 14, 1865 just day’s after Lee’s surrender.
Reconstruction in the north they declared the Civil Rights Act of 1866. This declared that everyone born in the United States was a citizen with full rights. Later they formed the Reconstruction Acts of 1867 which divided the former Confederacy into five military districts to be overseen by Union Troops.
Reconstruction in the couth was a little different. Many blacks registered to vote and turned to political activity to press for the equality promised by the Civil Rights Act and Fourteenth Amendment. Reconstruction legislatures, which included African Americans, made their state governments more democratic and increased services. Many whites were upset about the reforms and Reconstructions so they formed what was known as the Ku Klux Klan. They secretly met and tried to keep blacks from voting.

  4. Reconstruction actually means to rebuilt the original situation, but it also contains the rebuilding of what was destroyed! It also had to contain both war goals of the North. That meant in this case, that slavery is banned in all parts of the Union and to stop the confederate nationalism! They argued a lot, how much the North should supervise the South and what should be done, for rehabilitation of the southern States. In the mid of 1870 all previous southern states got back in the Union.

  5. The reconstruction after the Civil War was the rebuilding of the nation and former Confederate states to reunite the nation as a whole again.
This was the time between 1863 and 1877 when the U.S. focused on abolishing slavery, destroying the Confederacy, and reconstructing the nation and the Constitution. The reconstruction addressed how the Southern states that left the union would regain their government seats in Congress, their civil states as leaders of the Confederacy, and the Constitutional and legal status of the freed slaves. All these subjects remained to be heated topics of discussion throughout this reconstruction period. President Lincoln ended up being shot right after the war ended so these reconstructions were made by Andrew Jackson. The goal was to get the South to agree to abolish all slavery policies and it still remained for quite some time. A lot of states were resistant to the thought of this idea, epically the Southern states. Another thing with slavery came the KKK which was an anti-black group that formed to limit the African Americans rights and tried to prevent them from being able to vote. As part of the reformed south, many states were able to vote and in Louisiana and South Carolina, black delagates outnumbered whites in congress. This was a big change for the South when they were the ones who fought for slavery and seceded from the union because of this issue. The 13th Amendment was passed in order to abolish slavery. Radicals were Republicans who wanted African Americans to have equal rights and be able to form a new south.
These were just a few of many things that were done to reunite the North and the South as one nation and some of the things that happened as a result of these actions.

  6. Reconstruction was the period in which teh United States rebuilt and reunified the states. While they reunified as a nation, they also pulled together the economy to incorporate both the South and the North's economy into a pool of wealth. Both the North and South were affected because of 2 main reasons: 1) economies and 2) political positions

Economies differed because South was mainly agricultural and the North was manufacturing. By pooling both types of economies together they formed a well iron-clad economy that can thrive off of each regions supplements.

Political positions were changed as well. Both northern and southern politicians had a equal say in national or local decisions instead of one outweighing the other.

  7. The Reconstruction era was the period after the American Civil War. During this time, the South was in political, social and economic turmoil, and eleven Confederate states had seceded from the Union during the wartime unrest. In response, the Union implemented a controversial reconstruction plan to regain order in the Confederate states.
There wasn't any reconstruction in the North or South before the Civil War it was only after that they started reconstructing because since the North won the Civil War they needed to now figure out a way so another Civil war wouldn't occur, and needed to try to reunite the South and the North to become one country again.

  8. The reconstruction was to rebuild the rebelling states and reuniting the nations. In december on 1863 president Lincoln issued the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstrution, which offered a full pardon to almost all southerns who would swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and accept federal laws on slavery. This was permitted a state to rejoin the Union when 10 percent of the state's residents who had voted in 1860 swore their loyalty to the U.S. The Reconstrution in the South: Some southern blacks took dramatic actions, such as chasing overseers from plantations. But many more registered to vote and turned to political activity to press for the equality promised by the Civil Rights Act and the Fourteenth Amendment. African Americans also joined political clubs, such as the Union League.

  9. Reconstruction means the period of readjustment following the Civil War. At the end of the Civil War, the defeated South was a ruined land. The physical destruction wrought by the invading Union forces was enormous, and the old social and economic order founded on slavery had collapsed completely, with nothing to replace it. The 11 Confederate states somehow had to be restored to their positions in the Union and provided with loyal governments, and the role of the emancipated slaves in Southern society had to be defined. The north didnt have to do alot of reconstruction but the south had to change everything. One was the African Americans made their state governments more democratic and increased services.

  10. Reconstruction is something reconstructed, something that has been put back together from its component parts, pieces, or remains.
After the Civil War ended, the period of Reconstruction in the South brought great hope for change. For over ten years, gains were made, schools were created, teachers were trained, and black politicians were elected into office. The North abandoned its commitment to protect the rights of the former slaves, Reconstruction came to an end, and white supremacy was restored throughout the South. Reconstrustion was viewed by some as a time to just put blacks into politics. For Americans, reconstruction was a time of social, economic, and political change.

  11. After the war, the South was destroyed. Slaves started taking over land to start their own lives, disease was spreading, hungar was common, and the cities, towns and the railroad had been burnt down or torn apart. Many people died the year after the war. The reconstruction of the south varied, all together, President Lincoln hoped to rebuild the states that had rebelled, and reunite the nation as a whole. He wanted the south to take a loyalty oath and bring them back into the union, the Congress did not agree with him on this and many disagreements occured. Lincoln never came through because he was shot a couple days later. The new president, Andrew Johnson had different views than Lincoln. His support of the Confederates, and his failure to protect African Americans, angered alot of the members of Congress. The Congress and Johnson came to an agreement on the Fourteenth Amendment which said everyone would be treated equal but this did not give ex-slaves the right to vote. But in the end, after the Republicans took over, the ex-slaves were allowed to vote. People who were for slaves didn't like this so much and formed nasty groups, like the Ku-Klux-Klan, in which they targeted blacks and tormented them. Reconstruction of the South stopped when the elections came around and the people didn't think the Republicans were getting the job done.

  12. After the Civil War, Americans faced complex problems. Politicians disagreed about how to restore the Union, and whites and blacks struggled to define the rights of former slaves. However, instead of only stopping the fighting, Northern leaders decided it had to achieve the two war goals: Secession had to be totally repudiated, and all forms of slavery had to be eliminated.
Before the Civil War ever began, President Lincoln had begun to plan for Reconstruction-rebuilding the rebelling states and reuniting the nation. In 1863 he issued the Proclamation of Amnest and Reconstruction. Reconstruction, which began early in the war and ended in 1877, involved a complex and rapidly changing series of federal and state policies.
Reconstruction in the North basically dealed with congressional and govermental reconstruction. Such efforts include: Civil Rights Act of 1866, 14th and 15th Amendments, and the Republicans' passing of the Reconstructin Acts of 1867.
On the other hand, reconstruction in the South was occuring as well. Reconstruction legislatures, which included African Americans, made their state governments more democratic and increased services. Also, taxes were raised in order to allow for new road, bridge, and railroad construction and for increased services, such as free public education. However, The Reconstruction governments' reforms and African Americans' growing political participation stirred a vicious backlash, in other words, great violence broke out. Some angered white southerners formed secret terrorist groups to keep the blacks from voting. One well-known example of these groups is the Ku Klux Klan. As this violence worsened, Congress passed 3 Enforcement Acts to empower the federal government to combat terrosism with military force and to prosecute suspects.
In conclusion, The long-term result came in the three "Civil War" amendments to the Constitution: the Thirteenth Amendment, which abolished slavery; the Fourteenth Amendment, which extended federal legal protections equally to citizens regardless of race; and the Fifteenth Amendment, which abolished racial restrictions on voting. Reconstruction ended in the different states at different times, the last three by the Compromise of 1877. In the end, full restoration of the Union was achieved.

  13. Reconstruction is the act of rebuilding the rebelling states and reuniting the nations. In December the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction has been passed so that all southerners would swear allegiance and accept federal laws of slavery. This was part of the uniting of the two sides. But many people rejected Lincoln's plan and didn't beleive that the south would agree but Lincoln had a very linient policy toward former confederates. Then after Lincoln was shot Johnson took over. And Congressional Reconstruction started. This included favoring African-Americans to having civil egual rights but still not the right to vote. But readical republicans thought that african americans should have the right to vote. But in the end it was decided that with ballot, civil equality, and free labor African Americans had a chance to suceed.
During the debate over African American suffrage some southern blacks took dramatic actions such as chasing overseers from plantations. But many more registered to vote and turned to political activity. Then things like the Ku Klux Klan started up.
Then by the time of the defeat of reconstuction occured the Ku Klux Klan had been decreased. And Finally, government had passed the Civil Rights Bill of 1875, which prohibited the discrimination of anyone by hotels and other businesses. This was just a few of the ways reconstruction changed in the north and south and how the north and south handled it.

  14. Reconstruction is the rebuilding of the former Confederate states to reunite the Union again after the Civil War. After the Civil War America went through Presidential Reconstruction, Congressional Reconstruction, and Reconstruction in the North and South. All there things let to united the two parts of our country back together.
Reconstruction affected the North by included Presidential Reconstructions. President Lincoln has gone to war not to destroy the South but to preserve the Union. Even before the war ended he was planning reconstruction. He issued the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction which offered a full pardon to almost all southerners who would swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and accepted federal laws on slavery. But we would never find our how Lincoln’s plan worked because just days after Lee’s surrender, John Wilkes Booth, a half crazed confederate shot Lincoln. The next day Vice President Andrew Jackson-a democrat from Tennessee and a former slave holder-became president. Johnson’s leniency toward ex-Confederate allowed them to dominate Reconstruction and to limit the rights of African Americans. The North also had to deal with Congressional Reconstruction. President Johnson’s support of the former Confederate angered many members of Congress.
Reconstruction in the South was also starting to develop. During the debate over African American suffrage Congress imposed it Reconstruction plan. As a result some Southern blacks took dramatic action, such as chasing overseers from plantations. But many more registered to vote and turned to political activity to press for the equality promised by the Civil Rights. Reconstruction legislatures which included African Americans made their state governments more democratic and increased services.
