When war enveloped Europe, the United States tried to remain neutral. In 1917, however, the U.S. joined the Allied cause. The government quickly moved to mobilize the economy and to build public support for the war.

1. The government helps by bailing out companies, corporations, and helping schools.

They would probably have the nation mobalized by using ships and tanks. They would get involved in the war but not do to much. They might give adds and do the draft.

The Americans tried to stay nuetral for as long as they could, but when it got personal we had to fight for our nations rights'. Back when World War 1 arose the Americans joined in and started a draft as a way to mobilize troops. You can also make your government stronger and your communication broader my putting your troops in other countries and places. This will increase your knowelegde of enemy strategy and there plans. Another way the government mobilized the economy for war was by setting up programs to raise money, conserve scarce resources, and coordinate governement, business and industry. A way to get the public was to mobilize labor among the people this will strengthen the union and bring changes about to the work force therefore making a stronger effort to halp and to end things like the war.

1.) The first thing they did was raise money to pay for the war. Which soon cost 33 billion dollars. They raised money through Libery Bonds. They also planned to raise taxes to raise the money. The government mobilzed for war by setting up programs to raise money, conserve scarce resources, and coordinate government, business, and industry.

In his war message on April 2, President Wilson pledged all the nations's "material resources" to the Allied war effort. He tried to mobalize the military also.On May 18, 1917, Congress responded by passing the Selective Service Act, which required men betweeens the ages 21 and 30 to register wi th local draft boards. Many who suppoted conscription argued that the draft would help them build a more democratic America by bringing together soldiers.

To ensure the voice of labor received a hearing, President Wilson established the National Labor Board in April 1918. This composed of of representatives from busness and labor, the NWLB abritrated disputes between workers and employees.

Something else they could have done, would be coordinating the actions of government, business, and industry. A few last things that helped mobilize the economy were to conserve food and fuel, organize industry, and keep a steady labor going.

Next they would maybe need some positive posters to put up. And be persistant, don't just preach for a few weeks and then slowly die down, they would need to stand their ground and keep at it.
The duration and demands of WW I caused the government of each belligerent to mobilize not just the military strength of the nation but also the industrial potential. Initially, personnel from industries that contributed to the war effort were exempt from military service. As the war continued and the demand upon industry increased, some nations conscripted personnel into the workforce. All governments found it necessary to manage the economic resources of their nation in some way. WW I convinced most nations that mobilization for a future major war would need to include industry as well as the military.

The government needed to do many things to mobilize the nation’s economy to meet a national emergency. First, they needed to raise money to pay for the war. This money was raised through bonds such as the four Liberty Bonds and one Victory Bond. The war cost some $33 billion and about $23 billion was raised through bonds and parades to promote them. The government also raised taxes to pay for the war. It also set prices and production levels and regulated business that was crucial to run an effective war. The government mobilized the public support by using the CPI. They showed how bad Germany was and tried to use that to pursued people to be for the war so that they would think war was necessary.
ReplyDeleteWith the nation on the brink of war our econemy needed to be able to produce a large amount of resources in a short amount of time. Weapons, ammunition, supplies and vehicles all were needed in the upcoming war. The nation needed to do two things.
ReplyDelete1). Equipt some factories so that they could produce military supplies.
2). Will a large number of American men leaving for the war front factories needed other workers to fill those roles.
Also the government needed the American peoples support in the war effort so the government needed to run a campaign convincing people that going to war was necessary for America's safty.
They would need to be consistent with the things they are wanted to get across. Also bailing out companies and large businesses is what has been more common. But I would say the main idea for public support would be to stay consistent and strong with their views to show the public what they're all about and that they are confident that they can move forward under their watch.
