*You may have to do a little research on events that happened after the Civil War. (Ex. Civil rights movement)

  1. There were many flaws that were still in place after the civil war that still made life tough.

The Civil rights movement was reformation happening here in the United States to stop racial discrimination. The movement also restored suffrage to the United States.

There was also the Black Power Movement that furthered the civil rights movement to racial dignity, economic issues, and freedom from oppression from whites.

A specific example of a movement would be when the African Americans boycotted riding buses which was called the Montgomery bus boycott. There was also the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that banned the racial discrimination of employees.

  2. The Civil War tore families apart from each other. Men, as well as boys, were forced to fight to defend their side. Many families were separated because of their beliefs on slavery. Loved ones were killed in battle. Women, men, and children were forced to cope with the deaths of friends and family. The Civil War, as other wars, was a time of depression that affected many people and families.
In conclusion, slavery was abolished, and several families were reunited together. Many buildings and homes were rebuilt and some plantation owners were forced to give up many acres of land. After the Civil War, more African Americans were accepted in America.
So as you can see the Civil War had good and bad events. Mostly it was good because we accepted African Americans. It was bad because many people lost their family members in the war.

  4. The proportionate enormity of causalities and the attending consequences to so many from that blood-drenched experience. The second great consequence of the Civil War was the assertion of rule by law and the end of secessionist ideology. Democracies have profound difficulty with the issue of secession. While "liberal" democratic theorists address almost every conceivable dimension of freedom, individual rights, and the protection of minority groups, the question of secession hardly ever comes up.

  5. Even now blacks still don't have the same rights as whites. Such as in some restaurants blacks still aren't allowed in. "Whites Only" can still be seen. Many people are still racist which is so wrong in my eyes becuase they are like us, just a different color. It shouldn't matter what color a person's skin is. Back over 100 and some years ago people saw it was wrong. Lincoln did something about it, at least tried, but still now it doesn't change. Blacks are good enough to fight for us, but not to have rights like us. That's so wrong!! It's like saying they can die for us but not live like us. It's still hard for blacks to get rights. In the south there are some schools who have seperate proms, one weekend its all white, next all black. Hopefully one day it will change

  7. Well some major events occured later on. For instance segregation flourished up until the 1970s. A major person arose during this time as well. His name was Martin Luther King jr. He was a very significant man, and vowed to end segragation.

Another event stemming from the civil war was hatred of the blacks. The Klu Klux Klan arose from the ashes of the civil war. They lynched blacks, and burned schools, and churches. To this day there is KKK groups and activists.

  8. After the Civil War, AA's had trouble being treated the same as whites. Many blacks tried to protest the treatment of the laws and the southern people towards the AA's. However, the Supreme Court ruled the "seperate but equal" did not violate the 14th Amendment.
Other AA's had different ways of fighting discrimination, the most prominent two being Ida B. Wells and Booker T. Washington. These two had different views, one said to protest discrimination, the other said to get an education.
Later in history, AA's still tried to fight the discrimination that their ancestors did. One of the most famous was Martin Luther King Jr. He was more like Booker T. Washington, he encouraged that no matter how difficult, AA's should try to get an education. Mostly because if you weren't educated, you couldn't earn a living. However, he also protested peacefully in strikes. However, like Ida B. Wells there were consequences to his actions. He angered some people, and one of them killed Martin Luther King Jr.

  9. The united States have flourishd during the Reconstruction but instead failed to provide equality for its black citizens.Jhon Wilkes Booth ended Lincoln's life and Radical Republican called for the impeachment of Johnson. These events over shawdowed the fact that blacks, suffered under the burden of racism and violence.
The Freedom's Bureau was the agency that actully had some success. They succeeded in creating schools at all levels for children of former slaves. The Civil war was used to end slavery, however, there was no agreement within the Republican Party,Constitutionally,the13th,14th,15th Amendments granted the blacks their freedom and opportuity to vote. Nothing was done to make violence against them a federal crime. Black codes and Jim Crow ensured that blacks be relegated t he lowest status in American economic ladders. It would take 100years before the Civil Rights Act would be address and enforce. This Information comes from and article entitled "The reconsruting America"by Ron Goodwin. http//us-civil-war.site.

  11. The civil war consist of the north and south. They did not get along even after the war was over. The women rights to vote was an example. They had to fight for their right to vote. There was still people against blacks and they were called the Ku Klux Klan.

  13. The civil war had many effects. Such as the African Americans stuggling for equal rights. The life was tough after the civil war ended. Due to all of the deaths, women children had to adjust to the loss of their loved ones. Slavery was abolished. Everyone adjusted their lives to what had happened.

  14. Even though the Civil War freed African Americans, there were still problems after the war. One thing was the civil rights movement. Some were violent and others were peaceful, but blacks still had to fight for their freedom and rights. One positive effect of the civil war was that we now have a black president. So even though they are free they still have persecution and our country will always have that.
