Whether it's peacetime or wartime, it's always important to understand that Veterans Day means more than just a program at the school. Patriotism is a value that must be taught and modeled for students and adults alike. I think that Veterans day is about showing that they served for our country, and when they came back they were called names and spit on and stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteVeteran's Day is used to remember all the men and women that have fought for our freedom. It is important so we dont forget what it took to have what we have now. Without them we wouldnt have half the stuff we have now. My great Uncle Jim was a World War 2 veteran and my cousin is part of the air focre.
ReplyDeleteI have many relatives that have been in wars.My great grandpa drove supply trains in ww1.My grandpa fixed tanks in Korea, and my other grandpa took out mine fields.I feel veterans day is a day to honor and thank the men and women who fought to preserve our freedom

veterans day to me means that we honor all the veterans that have served a part in any war or did any kind of time in any branch of war.

It is important because when we stop caring all-together, it means we really don't respect ANYBODY. Also, we couldn't even complain freely if they hadn't protected ourfreedom.

ReplyDeleteYes I have a dead grandpa who fought at Pearl Harbor. He was in the navy at the time. Yes I have heard first-person stories about desert storm and Pearl Harbor. Veteran's Day is Celebrate the veterans who faought for us in the wars.
ReplyDeleteI think that veteran's day is important because it helps us remember that people risked their lives, and died for our freedom. We should thank them, and honor them. Even the ones that are fighting now. Even if you don't agree with war, i think you should respect it. War is not pretty but without it, we wouldn't be as free as we are today.

It is important because soliders need a day that they are remembered our they would be risking their lives day after day without being recognized. My grandpa was one of the few who worked on airplanes in WWII. I also ahve alot of cousins that our in the military.

1.) My dads cousin died in Korea, my 2nd cousin Dave Chesley fought and was wounded in Vietnam, and my uncle Roger was stationed in Germany during the early 1970's. My grandpa Peters flew a blimp during WWII.

ReplyDeleteIt's important because many people don't think war is important and having a Holiday for the soldiers let them know people do care and pray for them. Also that we appreciate what they do for us and our freedom.
I do have and have had relatives and friends in the Army, National Guard, and Navy. One friend from Arnold was in the Army, and it scares me to death thinking that he could go over seas. My best friend's boyfriend is in the National Gaurd, will be home next month though! :) My great uncle was in World War 2. And my dad was in the Navy.

ReplyDeletemy grandmother lived in Okinawa. Okinawa is the only place where there was a land battle in japan.so my grandmother exparienced the world war two. she and her family hid in a cave to escape from american solder.her brothers were solders and they lost their lives.her mother became blind because of the shock of her sons death.my grandmother wanted to be a teacher and she took a good score in elementry school.however the war was started when she was a junior high school so she couldn't go to school and she had to give up her dream.
she is alive now but she lost a lot of friends or family during the war.
so i think that Veterans day is to remember not only the solder but also all the people, that was injured or fought during the war.
by the way,my grandmother doesn't hate american. after the war, an american solder came to her and gave her some chocolate. she said "american solder was very gentle." now, a lots of american lived in Okinawa because Okinawa has an american military base a lots.
Veterens Day is to honor and celebrate those men and women who have fought or are fighting for the freedom of Americans and others. It is important to remember these people because without them we wouldn't be free. There have been several members of my family who have been enlisted in the military. My uncle is the most recent. He spent 3 years in Afganistan, in a transportantion unit. He doesn't talk about the war alot, but has told some stories and showed me pictures.
ReplyDeleteVeteran's Day is about honoring, remebering, and celebrating men and women that have served and some of which are still fighting for our country. It is important because by serving men and women got us to where we are today. However some paid the price with their lives. My grandpa served in the Korean War. He was stationed in England and served in the army. He also made the runways at the base. My cousin Danny-George is currently serving in Iraq. He trained to be a para-trooper but is now currently a gunner on the streets of Baghdad.
ReplyDeleteI have veterans in my family. My Uncle was in the Desert Sand War and fought in that. My Grandpa was in World War II. I have a distance cuzen that is Ronda McFate's brother who is still in the army and over in Iraq.
