ReplyDeleteAdvantages to this draft include: more soliders. a guarentee of soliders if there is a outbreak overwar and always having the hope of not being selected for the draft. Disadvangtes include less food supply, higher death rate, low morale because if you force people to fight they will not want to fight. I believe that this draft should not take place in the future. You should not be able to force people to go into war if they are not willing to.

ReplyDeleteThe draft provides the nation with a strong army. It allows the army to pick the best of the best. And finally, if a person is eligible for the draft, and a political elction is underway and a candidate is against the draft, then it will make people take part in the democratic process.
It is against a person's personal rights. Some people that are put into the draft, shouldn't be because they need to stay at home because they contribute to society or their family.And finally, some regiments are made up of lousy soldiers because those in the regiment are not qualified for war.
I have mixed opinions on this topic. I believe a half draft should take place. Only people that aren't currently in college or have jobs, should be in the draft, but scholars and job holding males, shouldn't be unless they choose to be.
The selective service act passed on May 18, 1917 required all men between ages 21 and 30 to register with the local draft boards which was later changed to 18 to 45.
ReplyDeleteThe good things about the draft was that it made a more democratic America by bringing together soldiers from different backgrounds together. It would also help the people that are already in the war making it so there is more support. The draft is also the easiest and cheapest way to expand our military.
The negatives of the draft are that they will have an army that didn't volunteer. A voluntering army is always better than a forced army. The draft would also take away men that are just trying to suppor their families. These men also might just serve as infantrymen and they would be asked to put their careers on hold.
I think that having a volunteer army is way better than having a conscripted army. I also think that we need to preserve our freedoms. In order to do this we have to have enough men to fight for our country. So I think that the draft would still be alright.

ReplyDeletethe draft brought more democracy to the war because it brought together people with different backgrounds. the draft also offered citizenship to over 10000 native american who served during the war. the draft also gave a english education to many of those foreign born soldiers.
the draft brought blacks into the war. many of the blacks were harrassed and there was limitations on what the african americans could do. blacks were not allowed in the marines and could only do kitchen duties in the navy. there was very much prejudice and racis acts against african americans in the war.
i think the draft is acceptable in this day and age only if necessary. it is said that there is small chance that a draft will be inforced thoe.

4). Im not sure what to say on this it kind of goes both ways i think the draft is a good and bad thing both with supporting details.

ReplyDelete2.)The draft was good because then we had people to fight for us. Also not many people were were educated back then so going to the war meant that they would learn things along the way. They would learn about nature and how to shoot a gun. Another reason would be that everyone would be "equal" so that way not just the poor would have to go but rich as well.
3.) Alot of men died in the war. Also they didn't have a choice they had to go whether they wanted to or not. Also the families would have to deal with that. To have to deal with your husband or father or wife or children going to war on short notice and maybe not getting to say goodbye must have been horrible.
4.) I think that it should not be instituted in the future. I think this because people have the right to decide how they want to live their life other people shouldn't get to make anyone's choices.

I kind of think that the draft takes away some of the person's rights. Like if they dont want to go and you make them that goes against their rights.

3) Emma Goldman insisted on the anarchist principle that the state has no right to make war. She also believed that the draft was a form of illegitimate coercion. Many who supported conscriptopn argued that the draft would help build a more democratic America, but in reality many foreign-born soldiers faced discrimination. Not only the foreign born, but also the Native Americans, African Americans, and Mexican Americans who were born faced it. They were assigned to segregated units where the were taught civics and English. The draft was not a choice, some didn't want to go, so the fled. Doing this, they faced trial being deserters.
4) The draft is not a nice thing. Some people are not made for war, but if in the future times get like they were in WW1, then i think that the draft should be instituted. ONLY if need be, because we are a very patriotic country, and we might not even need it with all the people Wanting to Enlist. =]

ReplyDeleteThe draft was good in a way because no one really wants to fight in a war, so having a draft brought up the numbers in people. You could make friends beign at war if you got drafted in. You would learn alot about life.
Some bad things about the war was that every man at the age of 18 had to put their name in to the draft, and you did'nt know if you were going or not, they would pick numbers and if yours was called you were forced to go.
No. I do not the draft should be put into effect in the future. If you want to be in the war go ahead.

ReplyDeleteSupporters said that it would build more democratic america by bringing soldiers from different ethnicities together. Also the draft ensured that the army would have plenty of reinforcements. With the draft there was always the chance that your name wouldnt be called out.
Opposers to the draft declared it unconstitutional. Stating that it forced free citizens to fight. The draft would also lead to low morale because they selected soldiers didnt willingly sign up. The drapt created a sense of fear among those waiting to be picked and led some to illegally flee the country.
I believe that the draft should not be reinstated in the future. i think it causes more death than is necessary. It refers to soldiers as numbers and not people fighting for the freedom of a country.

ReplyDeleteIt would keep many in good shape. Would keep a good amount of reserve troops. Also, unified most of the country.
Many are not suited for war. Some people were against war and wouldn't fight. Cost the U.S. a lot of money.
I believe that overall the draft shouldn't be in effect. However, Keith's idea isn't too bad either, it would get the homeless off the streets, give them food and a purpose to help the country.

they could be bad soldiers it could have an affect on there attitude and they could want to get shot and they are completely mitarally controlled
i have mixed feelings about the draft because i would not want to go to war involentataly but if it keeps our home country safe it would be worth it

3) you could get killed and it would suck if you got picked to go to the front line which isnt bad someone has to do it and there would be alot of sad familys.
