As we wrap up discussing the Civil War, one needs only to look at our current age to fully understand how our society has come full circle. The fact is there are still flaws stemming from the Civil War.
Your Assignment:
1). Watch the following video. The Effects of the War on the South
2). Discuss ramification the Civil War had on later events in American History citing specific examples and the correlation between the two.
*You may have to do a little research on events that happened after the Civil War. (Ex. Civil rights movement, etc.)

2).It freed African American slaves and it aslo stsrted a new chapter in American history. When the war ended slaves moved to the north and the west while the south had to rebuild and start all over without slaves.
ReplyDeleteThe south had to rebulid and start over on a lot of things . They lost all there crops, and homes. They had to rebuild cities. They lost a lot of money. The Jim crow laws came about, and so did poll taxes.
ReplyDelete2. With all the cities that were destroyed people had to rebuild them from ground up. Also the money that the Confederates had us to aid the war was useless, and banks in the south had been shut down. So later on they had Literacy Laws, Poll taxes, and Jim Crom Laws.
ReplyDelete2. they lost all the money, buildings were burnt, they pretty much had to start over,it took them 10 years for the suth to get back to the way they were before the civil war. jim crow laws and poll taxes came about.
ReplyDelete2)most of the people did not have homes or building becuase they were destroyed. so they had to find a way to rebuild the cities. all the cities were also destroyed. the people had to find jobs so they could get money so they can rebuild their homes and building that they owned.
ReplyDeleteTo make the African Americans not vote they made up Poll Taxes: Fixed taxes imposed on the voter. Since the Blacks were mostly poor they did not have enough money to vote. They had also set up Literacy Tests: tests intended to limit the vote to those who could read. Most African Americans never had an education therefore there was another reason they could not vote.

ReplyDeleteThey had the different laws about th voting: likr the fact that they had to pay a tax. Also there was the Jim Crow Laws and these laws inforced segregation on the blacks. They had literacy tests so that the blacks that can not read cant vote.

ReplyDelete2-Southerners who returned to their homes not only had to take in the effect of the physical destruction, but also the economic effects of the war. The Southerners had to abandon their wartime currency and return to Union currency, which had undergone wartime changes itself. Banks and businesses in the south had been shut down during the war. Planters had no source of capital with which to rebuild their homes or their livelihoods. Crops could not be restored without seed, and no seed was available for purchase.
There was a lot of physical destruction in the South. The physical destruction extended to individual homes, including many impressive mansions that were reduced to shambles. And Northern soldiers invaded the south, many livestock were killed or left to fend for themselves after their shelters and food sources were burned.

ReplyDelete2) The south was left with nothing, no seeds to plant with because none were available no labor or ecuipptment because slaves were free and everyhting was burned. They had no money in the south because banks were closed.

ReplyDelete2-first of all, the ramification was not unintendended. anyway because the south lay in ruins, the agricultual economy was destroyed. it took 10 years to rebuild the indusry to the level it was at. as the south got rebuilt and better, the blacks wanted more freedom and equality. eventually some blacks resorted to violence because of what happened, most didnt, but some did.
the south took a very hard hit after the war cause most of the towns have been burned explesally atlanta and richmond. all the cotten feilds have either been burn or untended to. all the money that the south have been useing is now usluss
