As we wrap up discussing the Civil War, one needs only to look at our current age to fully understand how our society has come full circle. The fact is there are still flaws stemming from the Civil War.

2). Discuss ramification the Civil War had on later events in American History citing specific examples and the correlation between the two.

ReplyDelete2.) The slaves were freed, and the south began the lengthny reconstruction. After the civil war it became illegal to have a slave. After the war ended it led to many more years of struggles and conflicts between americans.

After the civil war, many laws were formed against the blacks who had just been freed, which limited their freedoms. These were known as the jim crow laws. The civil rights movement happened years later but is a important part of history. It was a black uprising when they finally got rid of segregation. This may have been prevented if Reconstruction went the way it was supposed to.

Some ramifications of the Civil War are deaths of thousands of people, segragation of blacks and whites for many years, and hard labor for very little pay which put many people in financial debt. This led to conflict between Americans for many years on; this meant a struggling United States for a very long time.
ReplyDelete2) Many cities such as Richmond, Charleston, and Atlanta had been destroyed and burned down. Most of the fields, especially cotton, were destroyed. Livestock was also left dead because the North soldiers killed them. Not only was there physical demolition, but also the economy was hurt because of the war. The south had to quit using their wartime currency and go to the currency of the Union. Most of the destruction was not salvagable. Seed could also not be purchased due to lack of supply. This left the South in a hole that was very difficult to get out of.
ReplyDelete2.)It caused many cities to be burned down, agriculuture altogether was destroyed and any form of currency that they had been using previously was worth absolutely nothing. The cities that had been burned down were some of the biggest cities inlcuding Atlanta, Charleston, and Richmond. The cotton fiels were either burned to nothing or left torn and was predicted that it would take a very long time before the South would ever reach the agricultural level that they were at before the war.

ReplyDelete1.Houses were buned to the ground and livestock were killed. after the war things started to cool down. people were starting to get along and slavery was starting to end. the civil rights movement took place after the war. it basically ended the discrimination of African Americans. this turned the heads of the south in a new direction.
