  1. Horizontal integration is the process of merging similar industries, industries that produce similar products. Horizontal integration would include tactics like buying competing companies that produce the same goods as you do. Vertical integration is the process of buying out suppliers of that particular industry.
There are a lot of instances relating to laissez-faire. Many people don't want to deal with the government so they just make their own business with the things they sell. Small businesses would be a good example of this. They have enough regulations to protect property rights.

  2. 1.) Vertical integration are companies in a supply chain that are united through a common owner.
2.)Horizontal integration is a strategy where a company creates or acquires production units for outputs which are alike- either complementary or competitive.
3.) Laissez-faire is very much how our current economic situation is. IF one owns a business on their own the government does not interfere. The government only interferes if asked, or are a part of that business.

  3. Vertical integration is acquiring companies that provide materials and services upon which the enterprises depended.
Horizontal integration is one company's ownership of other companies involved in the same business.
They both have to do with owning companies and companies owning each other.
Laissez-Faire is the theory that calls for no government regulation of economic matters. Today, the government has regulation of the economy and economic matters.

  4. Vertical and horizontal integration both control the companies and what they are in control of within the companies.
Vertical integration is mainly directed towards the raw materials needed to produce a product. Horizontal integration buys the competing companies selling the same products.
Laissez-faire capitalism is where the government has no control over the economy. In todays society, our government also has little to no control over our economy.

  5. Vertical integration was when companies acquired companies that provided materials and services on which their companies depend on. and Horizontal integration was one companies ownership of other companies in the same business. Laissez-faire capitalism relates to our current economic situation because the government is very involved in business and if they wernt so involved our economy might do better.

  7. Vertical- included many companies, provided materials and services upon which Carnegie's enterprises depended

Horizontal- included only one company, Rockefeller's method of expansion, one company's ownership of other companies involved in the same business (oil refining)

Both- was made to help people and the companies

Laisezz-faire would not let the government be involved in economic matters. Our government is not very involved!

  8. Vertical integration is the acquiring of companies that provide materials and services upon which one's enterprises depend. One may purchase iron and coal mines for construction and fuel for their own industry. Horizontal integration is one company's ownership of other companies involved in the same business. In John D. Rockefeller's case, this was oil refining. Standard Oil bought other oil refining businesses to expand its production and lessen its competition. Laissez-faire capitalism calls for no government regulation of economic matters. Today exists a similar system. For the most part, the government does not involve itself in private businesses.

    2) Iaissez-faire capitalism which is the theory of laissez-faire capitalism calls for no government regulation of economic matters. And in todays economy the government is a part of economic matters which I think the economy needs a little bit of both some lee way but also some regulations.

  11. Vertical integration is when you buy out the companies that provide materials and services that you need. A steel making company could buy out another company that produces iron or buy out a coal mine to use as their own. Horizontal integration is when a company buys out another competing company that produces the same type of product as them.

Laissez-faire capitalism is the theory of calling for no government regulation of economic matters. In todays economy, people may go and make there own business and not worry about the government interfering with them.

  16. Horizontal integration-process of acquiring or merging with industry competitors
    -benefits-
    -Reducing costs
    -Increasing value
    -Product bundling
    -Cross selling
    -Managing industry rivalry
    -Increasing bargaining power

    -drawbacks-
-Majority of mergers and acquisitions do not create value
-Implementing a horizontal integration strategy is not easy
-Mergers and acquisitions often fail to produce the anticipated gains
-Can bring the company into conflict with antitrust law

Vertical integration-expanding operations backward into an industry that produces inputs for the company or forward into an industry that distributes the company’s products
    -benefits-
    -Building barriers to entry
    -Facilitating investments in specialized assets
    -Protecting product quality
    -Improved scheduling

    -drawbacks-
    -Cost disadvantages
-Company-owned suppliers that have higher costs than external suppliers
    -Rapid technological change
-Tying a company to an obsolescent technology
    -Demand unpredictability
-Difficulty of achieving close coordination among vertically integrated activities
    -Bureaucratic costs

American history has seen the swing repeatedly between laissez-faire principles and demands for government regulation of both types. Liberals and conservatives alike have tried to eliminate some categories of economic regulation, agreeing that the regulations wrongly protected companies from competition at the expense of consumers. Political leaders have had much sharper differences over social regulation, however. Liberals have been much more likely to favor government intervention that promotes a variety of non-economic objectives, while conservatives have been more likely to see it as an intrusion that makes businesses less competitive and less efficient.
