We have been discussing the events leading up to the Civil War. One topic of major U.S. historical impact is the Monroe Doctrine. Your assignment is to state your opinion on the significance of the Monroe Doctrine with regard to U.S. History. Discuss three events and actions that led many southern states to secede from the Union in 1861.

Mexican War! (Blog #3)

Your assignment this week will be based on 3.3. During the mid 1800's an expansion west was taking place. This caused tension between those western and even southern sections of our country. In order to better understand these tensions, answer these three questions.

Discuss the causes of the Mexican War. Also discuss the fighting that took place during the war, and finally talk briefly about the overall outcome of the war.
