Spurred by industrialization, American cities grew dramatically during the second half of the century. With this growth came other changes, and a distinct urban culture developed.

Immigration was rapidly changing before America's second industrial revolution around most of Europe. Immigration to the U.S. was changed once the revolution occured because of many different aspects. Some of which are the settings of teh atmosphere. See, immigrants didn't have to come illegally back then to live the american dream. They went through legalities to make citizenship official.
ReplyDeleteMost nativists thought these new incoming immigrants were a scour upon American soil. Most denied new immigrants jobs, food, shelter or any other necessary services ot needs for survival.
Immigration issues of today compare to the issues back then in some but not all ways. Back then, immigrants were not trying to come illegally. They attempted to become legal citizenships. today's immigration probelms include illegal aliens struggling to get in the U.S. while also importing narcotics and who know's what else.
Immigration changed in the late 1800's because more and more people were wanting to come over to start a new. most of them were told that America was the promise land or the land of opportunities.
ReplyDeletesome Natavists or Native born Americans did not like the immagrents at all. they felt as the immagrents we inferior, or not as important and true blooded americans.
The immigration issues of the late 1800's and today are really not all that different. today we have tons of people who come to America to start a new life. On the other hand many people sneak in from our boarders to steel our jobs and live in our country for pretty much free. they dont have to pay taxes or anything, and i think it is crap that the illegal immigrants dont do anything to try and become part of our country.
1.It changed in the late 1800's because there were alot of more poeple comeing into the united states because it was considered the land of opertunity.2.They didn't like it because they only favored the native born people and hated the immagrents. 3. There are still alot of poeple coming over but alot of them are doing it illegaly and the people dont realy like it because they are takeing the jobs that the us citizens are to lazy to do
ReplyDeleteImmigration changed in the 1800’s because more immigrants came over. They saw an opportunity to seek religious freedom, jobs, and just a new place to start. Since there was a massive number of immigrants coming over the U.S. tried to respond by passing the Immigration Restriction League. This sought to make literacy a requirement for admission into the country. President Grover Cleveland vetoed it in 1897 calling it “illiberal, narrow, and un-American.”
ReplyDeleteThis relates to us today because right now we have a huge issue with illegal immigration. These people come over seeking for jobs and freedoms. This is an issue though because they are illegal but they do the work that we don’t want to do so it’s kinda weird because we don’t know if they are good or bad.

the cause of inmmigration changed with the age of industrialisation. Some of the native born americans think that illegal immigrants impose heavy costs on government at all levels and may reduce the well-being of the native-born. To relate the immigration issues of then to now is almost the same. There are plenty of illegal immigrents here right now that arn't part of the U.S. and don't know how to speak english. They take the hard working jobs that some lower class americans would work there but can't because the illegal immigrants work for less then the americans would like.
Immigration changed in the late 1800's. A new wave of immigrants swept over the United States. In contrast from the previous immigrates about 70 percent of these new immigrants were from the southern or eastern Europe. Many came to escape poverty or persecution. Some come to sought economic opportunities also. However; native-born Americans did not like these new immigrants. Prejudice and fear prompted nativists to try to restrict immigration. They created Acts and Leagues to try and stop them. The Chinese Exclusion Act denied citizenship to people born in China and prohibited the immigration of Chinese Laborers. Also, the Immigration Restriction League sought to make literacy a requirement for admission into the country.
ReplyDeleteThe immigration of the 1800s is similar with today because we have a lot of immigrants coming into America that most natives are not happy with. Some claim that they are taking over our jobs just like in the 1800s. Reality though they are doing the jobs that most Americans don’t like to do.
1. There was a big increasing of the immigration in the late 1800's in the U.S. mainly from people from Europe. They came there to escape poverty or persecution and had finally to realize, that also in the U.S. there was not just everything "easy-going".
ReplyDelete2. Lots of native born Americans saw the new immigrants as a threat and thought, they are just too different ever to fit in and some even blaimed immigrants for all of society's ills.
3. Here are still a lot of immigrants, even their family already lived here for a couple of generations people make fun of hispanics or asians. People say Mexicans come to the U.S. and take their jobs. But I think we're getting better. Immigration has always been a topic in the U.S. and will probably always be.
In the late 1800's, immigration changed by the great demand for labor. Many people were living below the pvoerty line, and as a result workers needed doubled. This meant a flood of immigrants into the U.S.
ReplyDeleteNative born americans called nativisms viewed this as a threat. They blamed all of society's ills on immigrants. And they thought they were robbed of there jobs.
These realations are similar to today. Because a lot of people are threatened by immigrants. They say that they are stealing our jobs, but honestly nobody wants to do it anyway. But yet there are still alot of harsh feelings with immigrants and border control in the U.S.
During the 1800's immigration to America dramatically increased. THe American government started a propaganda campaign that portrayed America as the land of the free, and America was the land of oppurtunity. This lured many immigrants especially those from Europe to travel to America to start a new life. When they got there most immigrants found both a good and a bad side to America. The good thing was that they did escape the persecution some of them were running from but at the same time alot of Americans felt that these new immigrants were stealing jobs from American born citizens and were very opposed to immigration, this was a feeling called nativism. To relate this to recent years feelings of nativism are become more pronounced as more and more illegal immigration is occuring. THe difference though between then and now is that then the government welcomed and tryed to bring in new immigrants and now the government is trying more and more ways to keep immigrants out of the U.S.A.

3.) Immigration today is kinda of an issue today. Not that they steal jobs but it does take away many jobs for American. Yes, they will work for the money and many Americans are lazy. But it does upset many Americans because with them here they are limited to very few jobs.
In the late 1800’s, immigration took a really big boost to the United States. This was all due to the new industrial order that really took off at this period in our history. Because of the new factories and places to work, many new workers were needed and therefore people from other countries, called immigrants, came to the United States in search for a better life and a place to work. Some native-born Americans didn’t like this idea of giving these jobs to immigrants because they thought it took away from their job opportunities and they feared them as a threat to their opportunities. Today, it’s the same thing, people from other countries are coming to America in hopes of a better life and job opportunities. Even today, the same issue is occuring, they are working in factories and physical labor jobs and people are arguing that they are taking all of our jobs away, yet they are doing jobs that a lot of people here don’t want to do because its such a dirty job.
ReplyDelete1) Most immigramts who came to the U.S. before the 1800's were Protestants from northwest Europe, but in the late 1800's bout 70% of the new immigrants were from souther and eastern Europe. Most of the new immigrants were of Catholic, Jewish, and Greek Orthodox religion and were French Canadian, Armenian, Chinese, and Japanese people trying to escape poverty and persecution.

Just like today. Hispanic people are supposedly "taking" our jobs, when really were just too lazy to take the jobs our selves.
Immigration changed very fast but for the good it brought more jobs for them for the jobs we didn't want to do.
