ReplyDeleteGrange and Farmer's Alliance movements. These movements were a bunch of farmers banded together who fought for changes both economically and politically.
The problems for the farmers were, falling prices and rising costs led them to join the Grannde and Farmers' Alliance movements organizations that sought economic and political change. The farmers also had low-cost insurance and lobbied for tougher bank regulations, government ownership of the railroads,and graduated income tax that taxed higher incomes at a higher rate.
ReplyDeleteFirst we all know we need farmers, they make our natrual foods and grow them carefully. Farmers organized to better their lot. The Patrons of Husbandry is the first organization. Farmers had to create cooperatives in order to lower cost. Grange's tried and focused on the railroads to get lower rates. Interstate Commerce Act, stated that railroad rates had to be reasonable and just. The farmer's also had to form Farmers' Alliance to try and get things better organized.Graduated Income Tax were taxes higher incomes at a higher rate that helped the farmers make more money. So, in conclusion farmers' have a lot to keep together and pay for and they do not ask for much back.

ReplyDeleteI am here on behalf of the poor farmers of the Midwest. We are having trouble with our crops. There isn't enough water for us, we need more wells. Many farmers are not funded well enough to support their farms. This will eventually mean a shortage in food. Please help, or you may die of starvation. Unless you are Un-American and import your food. The farmers have poor working conditions and if they aren't dying, they are close to dying. If they can't support themselves, how can they support America with food.
hHello my fellow money makers. because of you I am not making any money. I want you to help me and my fellow farmers by raising the price of crops so we can suport our families. If you help raise the prices we would be able to spend more money to boost the economy but if we dont have any money we cant spend anything. Help us lower bank regulations. if you didnt tax us so much we would be better off. Just increase the amount of money being printed and it would alow us to charge more money for our products.

ReplyDeleteI own 200 acres of cotton. As you may all know prices are falling and costs are rising. This means I am not making enough money to buy the products needed to produce another crop year after year. Cotton is a huge product that is a basic neccesity in today's society. Please help all of us farmers and lower costs so we can keep producing crops.
Weeds, Insects, and a Shortage of Fertilizer are some of the issues we are facing and we have no money to afford anything to fix our problems.
ReplyDeleteUs farmers, the backbone of the working environment, work very hard to produce food for everybody to live and to stay healthy, and they force us to struggle and fight just to live ourselves. Falling prices and rising costs led many of us to join the Grange and Farmers' Alliance movements. These places look for economic and political change. We need to also print more greenbacks which was apparently very plentiful back when the war was going on. We don't need to struggle like this considering we keep everybody going.

Many farmers have had to join the Grange to help with their financial struggles. Also, the Farmer's Alliance promises to offer them solidarity and hope. We can only do this with the help of legislation.

Their are no railroads near my community.so me and my workers have to travel many miles. to get the seeds to plant our crops.but with the drought it has become very difficult to travel ..it would help if the government could built a railroad near my community
ReplyDeletefarmers are not able to make money off of the grains that they sell. the transportation eats up one half of the price of grain. to buy the equipment, the alliance organized cooperatives to buy equipment. it also ofered farmers low-cost insurance and lobbied for tougher bank regulations.
ReplyDelete1. hello im here on behaf of the many farmers in my area. we are very poor now that we sold our crops next to nothing. Our bodies cant handle the traveling many miles with out food and water just to buy seed to plant in our feilds because the there is no transportation to delever the seed like there used to be. please help us.

To lower costs,some grange farmers formed cooperatives. Cooperatives members sold their products directly to big-city markets and bought farm equipment and other goods in large quanities at wholesale prices-thereby cutting costs.
ReplyDeleteFellow of the Senate wanted to talk today about the agriculture of the 19th century granges initially focused on social activities to counter the isolation that most rural households faced. This movement also encouraged the full participation of women in this process. The Grange movement grew rapidly, largely because of the Long Depression, where the movement has expanded to 20 000 chapters and a membership of 1.5 million people. The granges installed their own marketing systems, commercial establishments, processing plants, factories and cooperatives.
ReplyDeleteBut as the Granger movement was unsuccessful in its goals. During the 1880s, the Granger movement began to be replaced by the Farmers' Alliance. By 1890, the Alliance had nearly 1.5 million members, which were located from the State of New York to California. A parallel organization, dedicated to african-Americans, the National Alliance of Black Farmers, reached a membership of one million members.
