I thought the details on the Civil War were very interesting. The use of the Minie Ball really caught my interest. It was interesting how they said that it was old war tactics with modern technology. Both sides would face each other on a front line. With the new accuracy and killing power of the Minie Ball, casualties increased greatly.
ReplyDeleteI also found the expansion of stuff throughout the U.S. was interesting. This was evident with technologies such as the telegraph and the rail road that were also both used greatly in the Civil War.
The differences and similarities between the modern working conditions and those of back then are really interesting. Safety is a much larger issue now. I noticed this mostly with the construction of skyscrapers. Also, there were fire issues in the clothing factories.
I think it was weird that people didn't want to find oil until the spark of the industrial revolution. It was considered bad luck to strike oil if you were digging a water well. Then, after the industrial revolution, people would try to dig through very tough ground just to try to reach the oil.
1. I really enjoyed learning about the civil war and the mini balls and how they can just destroy the human body. I thought the part about the largest cattle drive in us history from Texas to the rail road in Kansas was interesting because it made a lot of people mad because they were just driving threw other peoples land crop fields and back yards and such. but without that the invention of the barbwire would have never been thought of.
ReplyDelete1. the video was very informational. some people could probably watch it again and learn something. i think it skipped a lot of history.it is pretty bad when you have to abolish a drinking law just to bring a country out of a stock market crash. i wonder what would of happened if al capone wouldnt of gotten arrested.

ReplyDeleteI think that the video was very educational and it taught me in more detail of what happend and I especially liked the part where i got to see workers work on the statue of liberty and got to see how much it changed the significants of New york.
ReplyDelete1.) The video was a great learning experience. i learned about how steel was mass produced and how people in the building industry had to work in extremely life threatening conditions. The movie was good.
ReplyDelete1. The video was very gruesome during the war part. The grossest part was when they were doing the amutations. Also it got very detailed about the oil companys and cars when they were starting, this taught me alot more then i knew before. Overall i liked the movie more than i thought i would have. At first it was kinda boring but as it went on it got more and more interesting. When they started talking about the first inventions and how and who made them i learned a lot. I heard a lot of names that i didnt hear before. If the people from the past were lazy and didnt do anythign we proably wouldnt have half of what we have before.

I thought that it was very interesting that after many years of prohibiting boos, America finally decides that the boos will help with the economical troubles in america. I thought it was interesting to see america become what it is today though a several hour video.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the blog was very interesting. It had many things on there that i did not know about. I really liked the controversy when they moved the water from the lake to L.A. Many controversies were brought up in this video like when the government banned alcohol, but then brought it back. I also thought the new process of steel was very important. It provided a way to create new structures and started the industrial revolution.
ReplyDelete1.) I think that the video played was very educational about how things went down back then. I didn't know what the aquaduct was but it was pretty cool! Most people don't realize the importance of this because they don't really know what went on back them becase the "May not care."
ReplyDeletei really liked that video in your class it was cool to learn about the start on america! what i thought was something that was messed up was the red summer over racist that was inapropriate but its was made thugs and gettohs in the world today but it showed the inportance of the industrial life and how every thing started with virtical integration and horizonal intergation...

ReplyDeleteThe minie balls that were mentioned earlier on were really interesting. And in Nebraska it was interesting to see that people struggled so much because it doesn't seem so bad with the technology that we have now. You wouldn't regularly think about worrying about such a huge storm or something like that. Plus the part about finding the oil. If they wouldn't have discovered that, our country would be without a lot of technology as well. Also, the part about Al Capone was interesting especially considering that I read a book about it.

ReplyDeleteI really liked the video. It was very detailed and shows how far we have gone and what we have achieved. We went from simpletons living in shacks and small houses. To building monstrous pipelines, tall skyscrapers, and giant cities.
ReplyDeleteThey did have a darkside as well, though. We basically wiped out the buffalo. Massacred Natives. And destroyed natural things such as entire lakes, in order to build our cities. It also showed the tenament houses which we talked about.
I believe that this video shows an accurate acount of America's History.
1.I thought that the documentary had alot of interesting and alot of details about the mofia and other civil war and other things.There were alot of differnt reamrks and opinions about things parents and other people have different opinions than what other people do.
ReplyDeleteThere was a lot of information on the building of the United States. It all started with the Civil War. The South wanted to be separate from the North because they were fed up of the North trying to take away rights and publishing laws. The North beat the South in the war and ended legal slavery. From there most blacks moved to the North. Many things contributed to today's society. The production of oil was a huge one. The Rockefeller brothers first found oil. This changed the type of fuel we use in everything. Before the discovery of oil was coal. Oil is four times more efficient. After large cities were built became a lot of violence and crimes. The police rose up to stop these. That's all from me today thanks for listening
ReplyDelete1) The movie was about how America got started and the people who changed America to how it is now. it showed how that railroad got started and the expantion of the cities and the fights between the blacks and white in the 1900's. it also talked about the different cars being made and how that helped people travel better.
