The Great Depression of the 1930's was not the first depression in American history, but it was by far the worst. It lasted for most of the decade, and during that time millions of Americans lost their jobs and sank into poverty. In cities and in rural areas, many people suffered from hunger, homelessness, and despair. Life was not all bleak during the depression, though. Movies, radio, and popular fiction helped lift American spirits.

1. Industries that suffered the most included construction, agriculture as dust-bowl conditions persisted in the agricultural heartland, shipping, mining, and logging as well as durable goods like automobiles and appliances that could be postponed.

Farmers whose livelihoods had been foreclosed packed up their families and moved into the cities. Hoboes and other itinerants sought shelter in cities during harsh winters. City dwellers themselves were not immune to the rails of the nation.
3. People went to the theater and made up there own things to do and just was as cheep as possible.

3. The entertainment they had during the depression they had the form of radio and bands had gigs over the radio even comedy and even they had drama shows that were cheap $10 so that was there entertainment because they could afford tooo.

Some Americans suffered long-term health effects such as, stunted growth, weak bones, and dental problems from these poor diets. Life on the farm was just as hard because since people were in need for food the prices plummeted and farmers found themselves with more goods than they could sell. Farmers in some areas were forced to let crops rot in the fields and to slaughter excess livestock.

1) Many Americans had a pesimistic view on things. Many people were out of jobs. People were poor and didn't want to go out and do much. They lost everything and that is a really hopeless feeling. This was the general trend throughout the country.
