KGB, was established in March 1954 in Moscow. This organization was originally designed to be a state security committee and was attached to the Council of Ministers. However, it operated more independently than any of the other bodies of government within the Soviet Union. The KGB was the world’s largest spy and state-security machine, involved in all aspects of life of everyday people in the Soviet Union. The KGB was a secretive and secluded organization, and it has been said that, “Its doors are shut tightly to the public.” The KGB was divided into different departments, each run by a representative whose purpose was to ensure the observations of the security regulations. More than 500,000 people worked within the KGB and there were thousands of agents abroad. The 1977 Soviet Constitution stated that the Council of Ministers would coordinate and direct the work of the Ministries and state committees, including the KGB. On July 5, 1978, a new law was passed and changed the status of the KGB, and made its chairman a member of the Council of Ministers.

DeleteIn 1938 the scientist from germany found the thinks to do the atomic bomb but they , teh nazy keep in secret because of an eventually war and they was planning in use.Albert Einstein signed a letter which was addressed to the American President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. In the letter, Einstein revealed that the German government had been working with Uranium with the hope of developing atomic weapons. Fearing that the militaristic nations of Germany and Japan would develop and use these weapons against America or her allies, Roosevelt established the “Uranium Committee” with the purpose of developing atomic weapons

DeleteIn the Korean War, America came to the aid of South Korea against the communist North Korea. The communists had the aid of the USSR and communist China. The war ended in a stale mate and was fought against communism and what it stood for.

DeleteThe story I read about was about Sputnik. This was an artificial satellite that was sent into space by the Soviet Union. It was only the size of a basketball but weighed 183 pounds. This led to the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.

DeleteThe thing was, it didn't even look like a satellite, but with the supersticion they had back then of what stuff was, who knows. I bet in about a 100 years, when Russian and China have almost ruled the world and only have us to deal with, Sputnik will probably be activated and shoot a great death lazer down upon us. You never know...
DeleteThe fall of the Soviet Union was possibly a great thing in World History for Americans and their Allies. With the collapse of the communist regime came an ending to people living in fear of being nuked. And thus, peace was spread through the world.
