President Wilson developed a program for a just peace even before the war ended. This program served as the focus of the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. Wilson had to compromise on many of the points, but the final treaty included the heart of his peace program-the League of Nations. The U.S. Senate, however, rejected the treaty. Without American membership, the League of Nations proved inadequate to solve the world's postwar problems.

ReplyDelete1.WW1 signified a turning point for the world. WW1 shifted economic resources around the world. It also derived cultural influences away from Europe destroying some of it monarchies and empires. WW1 ruined the strength of many countries. If it weren't for WW1 the world would not be the way it is now and we would still be the way it was in the 1900's.
ReplyDeleteAfter WW1 Europe was completly destroyed. Many people were dead, influenaza pandemic broke out, food shortages caused people to starve,economies ruined. After the war Germany had got all the blame for the war and had to pay off all the debt. The countries in the middle east who tried to fight for thier frredom had to live undewr British and French rule.The league of nations formed after the war, but did not last. However, United Nations was based on the League of Nations.

ReplyDelete1.)World War I had more consequences than any other war. It resulted in the downfall of four monarchies. In Russia in 1917, in Austria-Hungary and Germany in 1918, and Turkey in 1922. Many other downfalls happened also.
ReplyDelete2.) After the war was over the British and even more the French insisted on much harsher terms for Germany and Wilson gave in.
World War I may have ended... but it never really ended. Europe was, in all simplicity of the word, demolished, and its people struggled to recover from the war. Everything was destroyed and the buisnesses that were still in operation couldn't produce enough to meet demand. Germany had the harshest terms of the treaty placed upon it, and were basically hated for all that they had done. Other nations fought with each other to gain territory they felt should have been rightfully theirs. Middle Eastern nations who had wanted to win their independence were still living under French and British rule, and tensions between them and Britain rose when Britain said they were going to support a Jewish homeland in Palestine. In short, the new world order which everyone had hoped would become a reality after WWI never did.
ReplyDeleteTechnology that was new to the world in WWI are used today in the military. There's the machine gun, tanks, gas masks, flamethrowers etc.
World War I was a whole new kind of a war. It opened up a new era to the world. The world realized the effects and damage that a world war could do. Germany understood the effects of it as they only recently finished paying off the debt they acquired from the war. Europe as a nation was majorly effected as most of France was completely destroyed. Still today they find bombs in Europe.
