German's continued violations of American neutrality drew the United States into World War I on the Allied side in 1917. The American's entry came none too soon for the Allies, who faced a desperate military situation. As U.S. forces poured into Europe the tide turned. The Germans slowly fell back, and in November 1918 the warring parties signed an armistice. The four-year nightmare had finally ended.

ReplyDelete2) Another thing that affected it was the fact that we were helping Great Britain. Although we claimed to be innocent, we were actually involving ourselves in the war effort.

ReplyDelete1.Nationalism, territorial rivalries, militarism, and military alliances all led to the war. But the one factor that drug us into the war was the sinking of the Lucitania, a ship that a German u-boat bomed that carried 128 Americans and many other innocent people on board. We took the allied side of the war with France, Great Britain, Russia, and also Italy.
